The Toney River boats lie rested,waiting for May 1st.,the opening day of the two month long lobster season.Lobster is my fave meal :) !

The trap is set
The owner baits the trap with mackerel and herring...she will wait and see which fish the lobsters prefer..the bait must be fresh !
Heading for the Strait
With baited traps and hopes of a good days catch the boat and crew leave Toney River heading for the Strait.
Strait action
Some of the boats from Toney River drop their traps directly in front of our place,just over the "hidden reef" where I swim.Because the price has been set low this year the fishermen are hoping for a bountiful catch.
Mermaid's Purse
This is very difficult to find because it is set in seaweed and or kelp.I've only found two in ten years !
